President Joe Biden comfirtabely won the South Carolina Democratic primary Saturday, clinching his first victory in his largely unobstructed path to become the Democratic nominee in a possible rematch against Donald Trump.
With 93.3% of precincts reporting, Biden had won 116,266 votes, or 96.4% out of 120,643 votes cast, way ahead of his two main challengers, U.S. Representative Dean Phillips and best-selling self-help author Marianne Williamson.
Mr. Biden said in a statement after his winning that “The stakes in this election could not be higher, warning of “extreme and dangerous voices at work in the country − led by Donald Trump.”
Mr. Biden victory tested his support among Black voters and independents, and definately will impact Nikki Haley’s push to defeat Donald Trump in the Republican contest in three weeks.
